After construction, three crossings over two current railroad tracks will be eliminated, enhancing safety and mobility for drivers who use them each day.
Read MoreThis project will improve safety by constructing an interchange at SH-53 and Pleasant View Road. The highway will be shifted north to accommodate on- and off-ramps without interfering with the two existing (and a future third) railroad tracks, and Pleasant View Road will be expanded to four lanes and be elevated over the railroad tracks.
After construction, approaches at Hauser Lake Road, Hollister Hills Road, Beck Road and McGuire Road will be closed and then rerouted to tie into the new interchange, rather than directly to the highway.

Narrated presentation on interchange and nearby projectA series of projects in 2022-2024 and 2027 will widen and reconstruct SH-53 between the state line and Rathdrum. The interchange at Pleasant View was planned to start construction in 2028 but with the awarding of a new grant is expected to start sooner. No project is currently funded to modify four miles between Bruss Road and Latah Street.
Widening the highway will improve safety for turning drivers. Corridor improvements total more than $40 million.
