ITD is planning and designing several improvements to Interstate 15 (I-15) in Bannock County, in and near the City of Inkom.
In an effort to minimize impacts to those who live, work, and travel through the Inkom Corridor, ITD plans combine these projects into a corridor-wide improvement effort during construction. ITD hopes to reduce construction time to approximately 2 years, rather than extending it over several years. Benefits of combining projects include less disruption to the traveling public and the most efficient use of construction funds.
ITD is requesting your feedback on potential changes to the Inkom Interchange (West and East). The interchange is referred to as a “split” interchange with on- and off-ramps in two separate locations. ITD is considering the following changes:
▪ Adding a third ramp (northbound off-ramp) to the West portion of the interchange.
▪ Removing the northbound off-ramp and the I-15 bridges at the East side of the interchange.
The other option is to leave the interchange as-is.
The project team mailed information to every address in Inkom. The mailing includes a postage-paid postcard asking you to identify which option you prefer. Please choose and mail the postcard to ITD by Jan. 29, 2021. You can also let us know your preference by emailing greg.roberts@itd.idaho.gov
The interchange postcard and factsheet are available in the Downloads and Resources section. We have also added Inkom Corridor FAQs to that section.
