The old bridge is deteriorating; the new bridge will have improvements for motorists and pedestrians
ITD is constructing a new bridge over the Payette River as a beautiful welcome to the city of Horseshoe Bend. The old, two-lane bridge will be replaced with a wider structure. It will feature two travel lanes, one in each direction with a median lane. Wide shoulders will improve safety and offer bicyclists another option. Sidewalks on both sides of the road will improve pedestrian connectivity in the city.
Work will generally be done from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday -Saturday. Two travel lanes will remain open during construction. Crews will build half of the new bridge to the west of the existing bridge. When completed, traffic will shift to the new structure, allowing crews to demolish the old bridge and continue constructing the eastern half of the new bridge.
Work will be noisy. The worst noise impacts will be done from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
