ITD is improving US-20/26 from Star Road to State Highway 16.
ITD will widen the highway to reduce congestion and enhance safety in this rural area that is quickly developing and heavily traveled by commuters and freight.

Star Road Closures
Beginning in early June 2023, ITD will close Star Road temporarily and detour traffic. The closure is needed so that ITD can safely complete construction activities such as milling the existing asphalt and repaving.
Construction Information
ITD is widening the highway to two lanes in each direction with dedicated right and left turn lanes.
Construction started last fall and is scheduled to be complete by spring 2024.
The long-term plan is to widen US-20/26 to six lanes, but that might not happen for several years.
