The road surface on the bridge will be rehabilitated
Work is limited to the Sand Hollow Road bridge spanning I-84. Crews will mill off the top layer of the existing asphalt. Then, using high-powered water pressure, a process called "hydroblasting," the top layer of the bridge deck will be removed. Fresh concrete pavement will be laid down to create a new surface and extend the life of the bridge. New asphalt on the approaches to the bridge will ensure a level transition between the road and bridge. New guardrail on bridge parapets will improve safety.
Traffic on I-84 will not be impacted with this project.
The bridge over I-84 will be closed from June 3 to mid-July for demolition. Both lanes of Sand Hollow Rd. will open from mid-July through mid-September to accommodate farm equipment during peak harvest season.
The road will be reduced to one lane at the end of Summer until project completion in November. A width restriction will be in effect. Those needing to move wide loads across the bridge can be accommodated by contacting project manager Julie Muth at 208.454.7710
