The road surface on the bridge will be rehabilitated
Work is limited to the U.S. 20 bridge spanning I-84. Crews will mill off the top layer of the existing asphalt. Then, using high-powered water pressure, a process called "hydroblasting," the top layer of the bridge deck will be removed. Fresh concrete pavement will be laid down to create a new surface and extend the life of the bridge. New asphalt on the approaches to the bridge will ensure a level transition between the road and bridge. New guardrail on bridge parapets will improve safety.
Through traffic on I-84 will not be impacted with this project.
The I-84 eastbound on and off ramps (Exit 26) will be closed. To access U.S. 20/26, eastbound traffic will go past the interchange and leave the Interstate at Centennial Way (Exit 27), get back on I-84 westbound, and use the westbound off ramp at Exit 26. Both westbound on and off ramps will remain open.
The U.S. 20/26 bridge over I-84 will be reduced to one lane. Temporary signals will control traffic. Expect delays of no more than 15 minutes.
